So, my birthday was on Tuesday, and I was quite happy to receive both “Dungeon Delve” and Open Grave: Secrets of the Undead. One I got from my wife, and the other was from one of the guys in my group. Also, I got a $30 Amazon Gift Card from another guy in the group, and so I went on and ordered “PHB2″.
I haven’t gotten to delve too deeply (no pun intended) into either book, though I have skimmed Dungeon Delve and seen the 30th level End-Boss is an ancient Red Dragon assisted by two Balors, which is just insane and awesome.
I like that there’s one dungeon for each level, allowing you to drop a dungeon in at any point in your campaign, or simply run a stand-alone dungeon one night if you and your group don’t have anything better to do.
Open Grave looks promising. I don’t use the undead too often in my campaigns, but I may, given the incentive, which this book does. There’s a lot of new undead to throw at your heroes, and the lairs look really useful like the ones in Draconomicon did.
I now own every single official D&D 4e book (not including the adventures modules) except for the Manual of the Planes. It’s not that I have anything against the book, I just haven’t gotten around to picking it up yet, and my heroes are nowhere near going planar.
If anyone has any questions about either of the books, drop me a comment. I’m more than willing to tell you all about it!
Keep Rolling 20’s!
