“You’ll feel like the homecoming queen in the middle of the A/V club meeting.”  ~ Shelly Mazzanoble

capuchincaptions-48An aside before I begin: this is meant to be taken as a ‘funny’.  No real seriousness… These are based on my own experiences of going to a game shop, especially by myself… very tongue in cheek!  Enjoy!

princessSo, what should you do if there is a girl in the friendly local game shop?

1.  Don’t stare…

well at least not openly gawking.  After all it does feel nice to be notice but try doing it out of the corner of your eye or when you think she’s not looking.  Trust me, she’ll know BUT she won’t run away screaming and if you’re real lucky she may even come back another day.

2.   Ask her if there is anything that you might help her find…

So what if you don’t work there!  The shop probably isn’t that big and you probably know where the stuff is anyway.  Besides she’ll feel like she’s found someone nice.  And trust me if she’s in there by herself and you’ve never seen her in there before….well she’s probably a little confused at that moment.

3.    Take a look around…

I know it sounds silly but take a moment to look at her shirt, purse and accessories.  No, it doesn’t matter if the purse is gucci or prada.  But you may notice print on her shirt that tells you she’s a little more comic/game/movie savvy than you  might imagine.  Sometimes, especially if you’re a girl like me, the signs won’t be obvious and there will be just little things i.e. a small button on a purse or super-hero movie earings.

4.  If you do notice something she has in the way of comics/games/movies…

Then if you know anything about that topic at all just start talking about it.  It’s an easy thing to do.  It’s a little conversation starter and she’ll be surprised that you picked it out.  Go You!

5.  Invite her to play a game…

Now granted she may not be able to stay.  She may have a million errands to run and just wanted to check out this store she noticed next to her house but still offer it.  It could be black-jack or a full scale D&D adventure.  It doesn’t matter.  What it will do is make her comfortable and want to come back.

*Warning*  If she says no thanks and walks away at any point then don’t follow and complete the steps… that’s just creepy!

There you have it.  IF you follow these amazing and simple 5 steps she’ll probably come back!
